Eaton Invitational Results

A humid morning at Fort St. Clair park turned into a muddy afternoon, but our teams responded with strong performances. In the opening race the Varsity Girls finished second among fifteen teams--only state-ranked Oakwood edged us out by a point. Whitley Elsass, Riley Bahr, Tiffany Chen, Katy Vanatsky, and Lily Parker all earned medals with top twenty finishes. The boys used a strong pack performance, with the first five runners closely bunched through much of the race, on their way to earning sixth of seventeen teams. Moreover, the boys moved ahead of several competitors who defeated them at Xavier on 9/3. Storms arrived for the JV races, yet a number of runners turned in season best times. Among the biggest improvements were Spencer Shore, Ian Denney, and Lydia Groff who all cut multiple minutes off previous races.

Important Schedule Changes

Due to a meet cancellation we are changing our race schedule on 9/24. Two other invitationals have allowed us to enter part of our team, so we will be splitting JV and Varsity runners. JV runners will be racing at Seven Hills High School. The top seven boys and girls will travel to Lancaster for the Bob Reall Invitational. This is a great opportunity on a challenging course--several of the top D2 teams in the state are competing at Lancaster. We will have more details on both of these events during race week.

Also, this Friday (9/9) we will practice at Winton Woods with bus drop off from school.

Xavier Invitational Results

For complete results from Saturday's races visit: http://www.buckeye-timing.com/Results/2016/09-03-XAV/index.html

Our boys team finished the race with a 20 second average improvement per scorer from last season at Xavier. Leading the way was Sophomore Jack Schwartz who ran 18:06 in his first career 5k. Junior Grant Mellott followed close behind as part of a tight pack for runners 1-5. The big PR of the day belonged to Junior Wyatt Curtis. He ran 4:35 faster than his previous best and a year of hard work has paid off!

The girls followed with a 2nd place finish, losing only to defending D1 district champ Turpin. Whitley Elsass, Riley Bahr, and Tiffany Chen all placed in the top 6. Moreover, all 3, as well as junior Lily Parker, entered or improved their position in Wyoming's 5k all-time PR list! You can see the updated Top 20 in the Girls Individual Records link.
